How do I reach the staff at North Cape School?

Staff members can be reached by calling (262) 835-4069 and dialing the staff member's extension number. Messages may be left on the staff member's voicemail for a return call. Staff members can be emailed. Obtain the necessary email address by accessing the staff's respective website.

Drop-Offs

Students often forget things at home - instruments, lunch money, agendas, homework - and parents sometimes bring these items to school for them. To minimize distractions for both the classrooms and in the school office, these items will be held at the office until they can be delivered to the classroom by a staff member.

When do students need to be at school?

There is no student supervision provided prior to 8:10 a.m. Students may enter the building at 8:10 a.m., the first bell rings at 8:20 a.m. and school starts at 8:25 a.m. Students are dismissed at 3:30 p.m. When students arrive in the morning, they will go to the cafeteria and wait for instruction to go to their classrooms.

Does the school offer before/after school care for students?

Your Place to Grow Childcare provides before and after school care for students here at school. Please contact them Monday – Friday   6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. for more information. (262) 378-9176 or (262) 488-9835  or Yourplacetogrow@gmail.com

What are the procedures for reporting an absence or tardy?

Parents MUST call school at (262) 835-4069 or email mholden@northcape.k12.wi.us each day of the absence by 9 a.m. Please leave a reason for the absence (i.e. sick, vacation, appointment, etc.) If no call is received, our District Administrative Assistant will call to inquire about the absence. All absences that are not approved by a parent will be considered truancy.

If I need to schedule an appointment that will cause my child to leave school for part of the day, are there good times to do this?

Obviously, the school recommends scheduling appointments outside of the school day or on vacation days if possible. If there is a need to take a child out of school, we recommend that it is scheduled over the student's lunch period or at the end of the day.

What are the procedures if my child must take medication while at school?

If it is necessary for a student to take medication at school, be it over-the-counter or prescription, the following steps must be taken: A "Medication Administration Form" (located in forms and links) filled out by the parent and signed by a physician must be turned in to the school office immediately. The medication must be brought to the school office labeled with the student's name, dosage, all instructions, and the medication must be in its proper container. Students may carry their inhaler with them, as long as a medication form is on file in the office.

When is there a secretary available to take my calls? How can I reach staff?

The school office is open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Teachers are available from 8:00 a.m. until 8:20 a.m. and from 3:35 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. All staff can also be reached through the voicemail system or through e-mail.

How do I get in touch with the school outside of these hours?

We do not have consistent staff to answer the phone outside of these hours. Access the school's voice message system by calling (262) 835-4069.

What is the procedure if my child forgets homework or a personal item at school?

Students may not return to the classroom once they have been dismissed for the day.  If homework or an item is forgotten or left behind, the student may come to the office at 8:00 a.m. the next morning and will be escorted to the classroom to retrieve the homework or item.  The student may sit in the office and work quietly to complete the homework until the bell rings at 8:20 a.m.

If the weather or another situation warrants a school closing, how will I know?

In the event that school is closed because of severe weather, you will be informed through the local media. TV stations 4, 6, and 12, CBS 58 as well as radio stations WTMJ, WKTI, WEMP, WISN, and WOKY as well as through our Swift Alert email notification with accurate information. When school is closed because of bad weather, after school and evening events are automatically cancelled.
