Yell and Tell Hero!

North Cape is proud to announce another Yell and Tell Hero! Asher in 4K used Yell and Tell to help his Mom. Jean Davidson, founder of Yell and Tell visited North Cape and presented Asher with a t-shirt, hero certificate and Marcus movie tickets. Way to go Asher! Asher learned how to use Yell and Tell in Guidance class. Yell and Tell is the only child safety program focusing on teaching the child who observes a dangerous situation what to do.  Children who use Yell and Tell become Yell and Tell Heroes.  There have been children from all over the country and world who have used Yell and Tell to alert an adult of a dangerous situation and in many cases saving a life.  Jean travels continually sharing the Yell and Tell program with others around the world. Lives can be saved by the child who sees a dangerous situation and takes a proactive response. It is an easy to learn 4 step program:

  • See It (See something that is dangerous)
  • Feel It (Scared. Doesn’t know what to do)
  • Yell (Yell HELP to attract attention)
  • Tell (Tell the closest adult)

Congratulations to Asher! He is our 7th Yell and Tell Hero at North Cape School!

Reading Workshop

Exciting changes are coming to literacy instruction at North Cape. Over the past two years, we have been closely examining how we teach reading and writing, what current research says, and what models of literacy instruction are producing the best results in other school districts.

We have visited and observed classrooms in other districts that have implemented the Reading Workshop model, and we have come away amazed at students' levels of thinking and engagement. We want this for our students! We are excited to begin this journey with our students next year, and staff have already been actively gearing up for the launch.

We will be hosting a parent information meeting Fall of 2016. More information about this will be mailed out as the date approaches. Until then, please feel free to explore this website!
