The week of November 13th, we will practice barricading the door if there was an ALiCE alert and the unsafe person was near the room and we couldn't evacuate through the door. They know in a real emergency we would then help them safely evacuate through a window. Students have been great listeners and I believe they are feeling prepared, not scared - exactly what ALiCE teaches!
The week of Nov 3-7, we are teaching all the students where all the exits are located. We will also begin to talk about what the letters of ALiCE represent and that we now have more options. The students understand ALiCE is a way to be safe if there was an "unsafe person" inside or outside our building.
The week of Oct. 23-27, we covered bus safety and the week of October 30-Nov 3, we reviewed fire and tornado safety with grades 4K-5 before we explain what ALiCE represents.
Thank you to anyone who was able to make it to our ALICE training presentation. Here is a copy of the presentation if you missed it or want to review something again.
